The time will come
when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other's welcome
and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was yourself.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart to itself, to the stranger who has love you
all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.

You, my beautiful friend always make the feast so much more enjoyable...

Beautiful!
"You will love again the stranger who was yourself." ~ This sits a little uneasy with me right now, thank you for exposing that.

ooooh, linni . . . what a beautiful poem. i think i have seen it somewhere before, but i can't remember where. all of it is delicious. i want to eat it up. i think i will post it on my computer desktop.
love that picture, by the way!
I found this to be such a powerful poem for me. How many of us have looked in the mirror to see a stranger at one time or another?
My time hasn't come...but it's close...I think.
Thank you for this my beautiful friend!
xoxo

I can't say it any better than enchantedartist did so I will just say thank you for a wonderful poem.
and so powerful this beautiful table image...imagining those parts of yourself so long hidden, banished, coming together, young and old, to sup at the table together ~ to listen and learn from one's reuniting self
This is utterly beautiful.xo
I just wanted to pop in and say hope much I love this space as I've been exploring it quite a bit over the past few days.

I keep it taped up on my cabinet, right above my coffee maker, where I see it every morning.

Beautiful... What an amazing poem and such a stong reminder that we need to love ourselves for who we are. After all the person we spend the most amount of time with is ourselves..
I've read this before...
But comin from your hand, and your heart....
It becomes all the more significant to me,
With love to you,
M
Somehow I missed this...but I love it! Thanks, Linni.
